Travels in Learning about Blogging

This page will be used to collect my findings as I research more and more about blogs and the pedagogy behind using them. A great site to find more out about this is:

Some notes about deciding on how to use a blog:

Knowledge Centered- do you want to direct your students to particular resources, asking them to read, synthesize, and add their own knowledge to create meaning? This format allows you to guide students to an end, with comments and suggestions along the way from both the teacher and other students.

Learner Centered- often students will begin with an essential question and create their own scaffold for learning in the blog environment. Students can work on pages as they find information, revisit pages to add information, and get feedback from others throughout the process. It can be a good way for students to track their progress, be it in writing or showing deepening understanding of a concept.

Community Centered- this brings a new light to group work. Students can work simultaneously or asynchronously on building knowledge, reading what others have to say and guiding the work as they see necessary.
